Transitioning towards continuous delivery in the cloud for a big product that started on-premise

SAP has been providing business software on premise for many decades. In recent years the cloud business is growing rapidly, and SAP is also offering the flagship product S/4 as an cloud edition. On the technological side SAP has leveraged many innovation such as HANA and UI5 applications.

Yet, transitioning to the cloud created major challenges as neither the product, nor the organization and the delivery were initially designed for the cloud. Especially the quality assurance needs completely different approaches than on premise. This goes along with a need for a shift of mindset of teams contributing. This talk will give an overview of the changes implemented and discuss the importance of including affected teams while going this way.
