Every Digital Ecosystem is Different! Really? - Master the Platform Economy with Patterns
Digital ecosystems create space for new business models. They connect providers and consumers of digital or analog products or services using a platform. Ecosystems are complex systems with many variables: "Who are the participants? What is the asset? How does matchmaking work? Is fulfillment part of the platform?”
When answering these questions repeatedly, we wonder: Is it always necessary to develop your own platforms from scratch? We show that digital transformation also follows patterns. These patterns help to make complexity manageable at all levels: from designing the vision to implementing it in software. We have identified commonalities between ecosystems and will present the technological building blocks needed to move more efficiently from ideas to platform prototypes.
Value for the audience:
The presentation is aimed at software architects, product managers, and decision-makers who develop digital ecosystems and marketplace models. Participants will learn an application-oriented framework for modeling and implementing digital ecosystems—with direct relevance for conception, scaling, and sustainable product strategies.
Problems addressed:
Every digital ecosystem is different. This means that every company that wants to build such an ecosystem has to start from scratch. This is inefficient and poses major challenges for companies.
Digital ecosystems are inherently complex because they require the immediate consideration of at least two market sides with conflicting interests but nevertheless collaboration on a common platform.
