Short description

AI is set to revolutionize the future of work across various domains, with IT and, in particular, software development undergoing significant changes. A step in this direction is the introduction of pair-programming systems (e.g. Github Copilot or Codium). These systems not only promise to increase developer productivity but also the quality of software systems and developer satisfaction. In this talk, we will explain the enabling technological foundations of AI, demonstrate the current state of AI-supported software development with examples, address existing shortcomings, and explore future trends in the field. These advancements will not only affect professional software developers but also empower non-developers to program with AI guidance.
